2024 … A Year in Review
Hello beautiful people of Cloudcroft. You all are amazing! This is such a wonderful community! There is no way Keep Cloudcroft Clean could thrive like we have this year without you. You’ve helped us reach goals we never imagined. Alex and Ray created Keep Austin Clean in 2015 and Keep Cloudcroft Clean in 2022/2023. Keep Cloudcroft Clean has grown SO much faster than Keep Austin Clean. And it’s because of YOU and your support and donations!
Keep Cloudcroft Clean has held 19 clean-ups since we began in 2022. But we held a record NINE clean-ups in 2024 with a total of 123 volunteers, many attending multiple clean-ups. We always love seeing new faces, but we really love our repeat volunteers. We can’t do this without you!
The Sacramento Hot Shots helped us clean up Burro Street and the surrounding area in April. Cloudcroft and High Rolls Fire Departments helped us clean some of the graffiti at the tunnel vista in October. In September, we were asked to help deconstruct a massive log structure around a tree on the Sleepygrass trail. It was a huge kindling box for fires that has needed to go for years. Deconstructing these structures helps protect the Village from fires. In November, the Cloudcroft Cross Country team helped us clean up Zenith Park. We also cleaned Dry Canyon, Keep Cloudcroft Clean’s Adopt-A-Highway section on highway 244, Zenith Park, and East Burro Street.
KCC is finally building our website that should be launched in January. We also purchased a drone to film clean-ups. Because it is not being used for “recreational purposes”, Alex obtained his Part 107 remote pilot’s license.
Throughout the year, we collected 820.119 pounds of garbage in the village, the surrounding area, and trails. We hope 2025 will bring lower numbers due to more nature conscious people. But if it doesn’t, Keep Cloudcroft Clean will be here to help!
Please reach out to us if you have questions, concerns, or clean-up ideas. Thank you for all your help and support!
